I woke up early as one does when one is having chocolate for breakfast. We met up with the Mindich family - Miriam, Lillian, Benjamin, Abigail, Hannah and dad Bruce at Max Brenner's Chocolate Factory. Saw a kangaroo cup - a cup that has a lip (little pouch) to put choc bits on so that they melt and slide into the coffee while you are drinking it! mmmmm. And their chocolate covered pecan nuts were someting to write home about!
After finishing a fabulous chocolate Belgian waffle, we met up with Sue and Hans and finished the walk around Greenwich Village that we had to abort due to extreme cold a few weeks ago. By chance we saw the Blue Note Jazz Club and decided to take in a show. Who could have known that the Cuban all Stars were playing there! We passed the Club Wha - where Jimmy Hendrix used to play and the Comedy Cellar where Jerry Seinfeld appeared as a regular.
After an enjoyable long walk we went to see the view of the park from Hans and Sue's room on the 34th floor of the Central Park Plaza. And to my surprise they had bought me a bottle of Bollinger Grand Annee 2004 for my birthday! I was happy for two reasons - I love that champagne and I haven't been able to find any in NYC. We were instructed to keep it for a special occasion!
But wait - there's more - they then took us down stairs for a horse and carriage ride in Central Park. Wonderful, wonderful fun.
Finished off a lovely day with dinner at Cafe d'Alsace – Hans and Peter put their beer sommelier to work while Sue and I polished off a delightful Pinot Noir.
