21/5/13 – Longwood Middle School ‘Schools to Watch’ Day 1

Aaah breakfast at The Butler’s Manor – compote of fruit, fresh orange juice, ham and broccoli savoury turnover with a hint of Dijon mustard and of course that pot of tea! At breakfast we met a nice German couple who were retracing their happy memories after returning back to Germany having completed a term in Washington as a TV news presenter.
Today I was a guest at Longwood Junior HS where they were conducting Day 1 of the NYS ‘Schools to Watch Program’. This afternoon we looked at an overview of the project which included an explanation of the essential elements that underpin Middle School education in NY.

It was great to see that Australian Middle Schools outcomes are almost the same. Guess all teenagers are just teenagers and we have the same hopes and dreams for them in the end!

Dr Levi McIntyre

Peter spent the day at Fire Island a resort town off east coast of Long Island and found that ‘Superstorm Sandy’ had ripped a big hole in the island and is now in fact two islands! We went for a drive around the local area and then dined at ‘The Chef’ where we had the fixed price menu and a glass of local wine.
