Hooray – the gas is back on! For the last two weeks we have been without gas for cooking or heating as it was leaking in the building and the City of New York had to deem the system repaired before they would restore our supply. This was just in time as Ben Lewis (a colleague and friend from Wesley College) arrived this afternoon for a few days R&R before returning to Australia and Term 2.
After a few Brooklyn beers to make the man feel welcome we took Ben for a walk through the park – not because it was an absolutely beautiful afternoon but because I felt this overwhelming urge to wear my new jacket again. Ok the cherry blossoms and the fresh green leaves in the park were beautiful and it looked a treat with the setting sun in the background. As the sun finally set at about 7pm we walked across the park and out onto Columbus Circle and had dinner @ Porter House. Steaks were great and the Californian Cab Sav perfect! After the meal we took a little perambulation along Central Park South and past the Apple store and FAO Schwartz before catching a cab home. Welcome Ben – don’t expect to sleep this week!
