Today we left Bo and Kristie to complete their shopping marathon. We met up later that afternoon back at our apartment for pre-dinner drinks. Bo and Kristie treated us to some Verve (no complaints there) and a lovely bottle of red. The orange label of the champagne matched perfectly the lovely bunch of daffodils … so it quickly became obvious that Bo had not been ill at all but instead had spent the afternoon carefully blending the colours. Or not!
The four of us then took a pleasant stroll down York Ave to ‘The Mansion’ restaurant. When Peter had tried to book here earlier in the week he was told that “we’re not a restaurant sir, we’re an institution and as such we don’t take bookings.” Take that you tourist – you gotta love ‘the don’t you know who we are’ attitude!
Peter had a steak with many attachments and we three had burgers and fries also with many attachments. Kristie has become quite the expert at ordering red meat meals here, the state of its bleeding, the condiments required with it, the fries (five options with the types of fries – regular, fat, shoestring, curly and waffle), the salads, the dressings (only four options tonight – ranch, Italian, French or slaw). I was so proud of her, it is clear that, despite some struggles early on, she is now really starting to enjoy herself with these menus and the giving of orders to the staff!
